A downpour of hate
Waves crashing yet
glistening Sweet solace at last
Please give a detailed explanation of the meaning and main idea of this poem.:
This poem is a haiku. I found the main idea of this poem is how situations at first may seem poor but when you try to find the beauty in things, happiness comes. If one was to always focus on the hate, then the world would seem dreary but once one sees the sweet things in life, peace will reveal itself.
Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.:
This poem reminds me of the time I visited Korea. It was quite recently when my family and I went to go see the ocean from an incredibly long bridge. It was a particularly windy day that afternoon and the waves crashed with fury. However, I found it oddly beautiful. So I took into consideration that experience while writing this poem.
Why did you choose to write this poem?:
Haiku always held a special place in my heart. It is short yet sweet. The little things in life manage to make your life so much better in subtle ways but with massive effects. I remember once my elementary school teacher first taught me how to write haiku while looking at the trees in the distance. Since then I have loved poems.
