Ignorance overrules regrets,
Blame it on their sorrows and try to forget,
Push it down so deep,
It rushes back to a leap.
Repressing haunts that who tries,
Until all hope dries,
An eternity of sighs,
A bitter path until demise.
Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.:
This poem is about repressing feelings and how humans deal with emotions, especially those dealing with mental health illnesses such as Anxiety or OCD. To heal, individuals must look within themselves and be content with their raw emotions, although this is not always the easiest process. As youth, often we make mistakes, and try to forget but to truly learn from a situation we must not negate the attachment to it but comprehend its necessity. Only then are we capable of self-improvement.
Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.:
My tribulations often catalyze heavy emotions that become difficult to deal with. Like most of my peers I would try to move past them without acknowledging their existence, until I learned to reflect. I wanted there to be a heavy tone to the poem, as this is a common problem many youth encounter. The observations I have made and experienced through repressing my emotions, usually lead to unwanted results, so the poem naturally flowed into its endpoint of demise.
Why did you choose to write this poem?: I want to empower others much like myself whom deal with strong emotions, to not bottle them up but instead try to develop healthier strategies then shoving their feelings away.
