I met a friend

Who I love so

Through thick and thin

Through hail and snow

They shone up to me

Like treasure for my heart

So as long as you’re there

I will be too

Hand in hand

Promise me you won’t let go

Together we can live and grow old

Through loss

Through love

Through hardships

Through time together

Laugh with me as the days go on

I promise not to leave

All you have to do is stay

The poem is about a dear friend that has been with me for as long as I can remember. This poem is about how I wish to never leave her, as she brightens up my life every time we are together. I hope we never lose touch, as she means a lot to me.

My thought process while I was writing this poem is one thing I can’t really explain. I was writing through my emotions as the words came to my head.

Why did you choose to write this poem?

I chose to write this poem to express myself and as a token of friendship to my friend. Writing poetry is my way of making sense of my feelings.

Remember to always listen to your heart, as if you don’t, you’ll usually regret it. Writing poetry is a great way of expressing your feelings, as seeing them written down, personally makes me feel whole.
