I shake.
I shudder.
Clinging to myself, as I would another.
Overhead, gunshots dance across no mans land,
Like a ballerina on a stage.
My ears ring,
I cry.
Is it over?
I stare at the flag over me.
Victory? What is victory?
It may be over, but it’s not victorious.
You will call on me again,
But I won’t be there.
“I am home!” I shout. But no one answers.
My home, my family, where are they?
“You are not home,” says a solemn voice.
When you place my picture upon that wall you will remember me.
Tears,
Sobs,
“Why do you cry?” I ask.
No one hears me,
But I am remembered.
Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.
