those three words hollow out the room
two people staring at each other with
Existential doom
a Professional hate for this world
pitiful words chased down with a hasty
embrace
but this ecstasy is laced
it’s laced with death, guilt, and worst of all
shame
these walls have been rebuilt too many times
these walls have heard these three words over
a dozen times
they beg for a new string of words
something that doesn’t hurt
something that doesn’t flirt with death
the door swings open
killing the mood
killing you too
ending the conversation before it even started
those three words linger in the air
waiting to be picked up
but once again there stuck in the dark
with no where to stay
picking apart my every move
those three words killed me
and they will kill you too
Please give a detailed explanation about the meaning and main idea of this poem.:
My poem is about powerful words and the effect they have on people. The three words can be anything, “I hate you”, “I love you”, “I need you” etc. The point is what we say has impact on other people and vice verser. Sometimes it’s hard to hear the truth and sometimes it’s even harder to hear it.
Please explain your writing and thought process regarding this poem.:
The way I write is the way I think, all over the place. I don’t write to convey a certain message, I write to get my words out. This poem was guided by the way I feel.
Why did you choose to write this poem?: I chose to write this poem after a conversation between me and my friend. He told me something that I had a hard time hearing and that inspired me to write this.
Do you have any tips or anything to share with the youth writers who may be reading this?: Just to write, as much a posible. Let go of trying to be good, just be yourself.
